Hello! Welcome to my new Facebook. I have started this as part of Promised Land Messianic Fellowship’s effort to improve our Web presence. As the Elder of the fellowship, I thought it might be good to present information on how and why we worship as we do. You most likely came here from our congregation’s website and have some interest in the Messianic understanding. I will try to answer some of the common questions that people have about our understanding and ways of worship.

First, and most important, we absolutely believe in salvation through Yeshua (Jesus). He died for our sins and rose again. Many in the more normative churches will say that Hebrew Roots/Messianic believers are trying to work their way into heaven because we follow Biblical Torah. This is completely false, but convenient in a discussion. We believe that we are following both scripture and the example of Yeshua and the apostles when we keep Torah.

I will explain. In Matthew 5:17-19 we see Yeshua telling the people “17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

In verse 17 “fulfill” should be understood to mean, to give fully, not to complete or do away with. In 18 we see that nothing passes from the law until heaven and earth pass away. Then in 19 we see that the one that does the law and teaches others to do it, will be great. I personally find it hard to believe that anyone can look at these verses and say that Torah is done away with.

When we read the Gospels, we see Yeshua continually correcting the scribes and pharisees. Many believe that they were enforcing Torah. They were not. They were enforcing the rabbinic interpretation also called the traditions of the elders. Yeshua taught Torah and lived it. He also told us it was not a burden 1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous (a burden).”

This then is our basic position – salvation through Yeshua and a life lived by following Biblical Torah. It is not difficult but satisfying to know that you are doing the will of YHVH (God) every day in all that you do.

It is my intention to discuss different topics each week or so. If you have questions please ask, I’ll be happy to give advice on Biblical questions from our perspective. And of course, we would be very pleased to see you at our Shabbat (Sabbath) service. You will experience the Feasts of YHVH (God), and come to understand the Author of the Torah as He wants Himself to be known. We meet at 3:00 pm each Saturday for worship, prayer, bible study and fellowship.

All for now,

Shalom and love in Yeshua, Cornel the Elder
